Developing artistic talents and creative activities became a major focus in providing some of the life skills and social interaction that is vital in the long term outcome, aiding recovery, and helping to create a better future for our members and their families following a major life changing event.
Volunteers formed a steering committee and trustees were appointed as Move Ahead received charitable status.
We are based at Bevin Community Centre, Outwood (near to Wakefield). Fundraising activities continued apace whilst maintaining the two meetings per week; with more helpers attending the standard of art work increased and additional activities were introduced. The trustees however still wanted somewhere that they could call ‘their own place’ and a search in earnest began.
The current location at Bevin Close, Outwood near Wakefield, which is shared with the local community, was leased from Wakefield District Housing. Following extensive refurbishment works being undertaken including disabled toilets and disabled access the building was officially opened By Cllr Jacqui Williams on June 4th 2011.
